Annual Club Picnic
Good Day and War Eagle to all of you!

As I promised in my last message, here are more details about The 4th Annual Back to School Tailgate/Picnic sponsored by your West Ga. Auburn Club. Get your calendars, daytimers, Blackberries, or crayons out and mark Sunday, August 1 as the date to join fellow Auburn friends and get the 2010 season started!!!! You don’t have to be a member of the WGAC to attend. Your ticket to the event is your love for Auburn University.

We will meet at Blanton Creek Park on beautiful Lake Harding (Hamilton, Ga.) August 1 beginning @ 3:00 PM EST. Get with your regular tailgating crew or join someone new and set up your gameday spread. If your tailgate consists of tents, banners, grills, sound systems, or fireworks display- bring it on and set it up. If your tailgate consist of a bag of Doritos and a beverage that will work also. We will encourage everyone to go “tailgate hopping” and see their old friends and make some new friends. No bottles please!

We have invited about 25 incoming freshmen from our area who are headed to the Plains this fall. We will recognize these kids and send them off in proper fashion. The band “Both Sides of the Hill” will be playing for us again this year after so many of you requested their return. There will be games for the kids (and adults if they choose) that will not disappoint. Aubie will be on hand to do all those wonderful things that only Aubie can do so well. We will have event T-Shirts for sale as well as other merchandise to get you in the mood for another football season. What are you waiting for? Get on the phone and call all your Auburn buddies and make your plans for August 1.

Note: While the event is free to everyone there is a $3/car fee to enter the park.

Directions to Blanton Creek Park:

Take I-85 North/South to Exit 2-Hwy 18 (West Point/Pine Mountain)

Turn East onto Hwy 18 and go 0.5 miles towards Pine Mountain.

Veer right onto Hwy 103 and go 10.3 miles.

(At this point start looking for the WGAC Picnic directional signs)

Turn hard right onto Lick Skillet Road and go 0.2 miles.

Turn left on paved road and go 0.7 miles.

Fork right at the Ga. Power/Blanton Creek Park sign.

Go to the Guard House and pay $3 for parking.

Fork right onto first paved road to picnic area.
